Milton, NH: Daniel Steinbach, 50, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston surrounded by family, following a lengthy illness.

Dan was born in Albany, NY on August 16, 1957, the son of Matthew and Doris (McCarthy) Steinbach. He attended the University of Maryland and was a cadet and senior member of the Civil Air Patrol in that state. He and his wife of fourteen years, Linda, moved to Milton fourteen years ago. He had a lifelong interest in aviation and enjoyed skydiving in Lebanon, Maine. He was also a longtime member of Nippo Lake Golf Club.

He was interested in politics at the local, state and national level. Locally, he served on the Milton Budget Committee, Planning Board and ZBA. He ran as a Republican for state representative for District 3 in 2006. He served on the Strafford County Republican Committee, and was an active supporter of John McCain in the 2008 Presidential Primary.

Dan served for seven years as a volunteer board member with the SHARE Fund, and was their grant coordinator. He was a member of Holy Rosary Parish in Rochester for twelve years.

He was predeceased by his father Matthew Steinbach, and by a brother James Steinbach. Survivors include his wife, Linda, their daughter Jamie Buckley Steinbach; his mother, Doris Steinbach of Athol, MA, three brothers, David Steinbach of Maynard, MA, Gary Steinbach of Tuftonboro, and Matthew Steinbach Jr. of Baltimore, MD; four sisters Christine Flannery of Athol, MA, Marylou Wilkensen of Columbus, OH, Patricia Steinbach of Columbus, OH and Tracey Donovan of North Hampton, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins and a beloved pet Joy.

Visitation will be held at the H. J. Grondin & Son Funeral Home, 177 North Main Street, Rochester, NH on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday at Holy Rosary Church, 189 North Main Street, Rochester, NH with burial to follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the SHARE Fund, c/o Holy Rosary Church, 189 North Main Street, Rochester, NH 03867.

Mike and I were sorry to learn of Dan's passing. He was a terrific gentleman and someone who worked really hard for us and the town of Milton. We will always be greatful for all of the help that he provided when our nephew dying.

Last evening our Strafford County Republican Committee voted unanimously to nominate Dan for the Norris Cotton Republican of the Year award for our county. The award will be presented at our state annual meeting in Alton on Sunday, May 18th before the entire state committee.

Dan was an articulate, hard-working, and passionate defender of Republicans and Republican principles and was always willing to volunteer to be involved on our boards and committees. He is well...

We were so sorry to hear of Dan's passing; we just saw him in church and he looked so well! But, that was the 'thing' about Dan, he always kept going and going and going- I never saw such a busy guy, and one that did so much for his church and his community in every way - and he was the one that should have been taking it easy!!! We have such fond memories of Dan preparing for Jamies birthdays at our spa and restaurant, over the past several years,always making it perfect for his little girl whom he adored. We will miss Dan, he was a wonderful man and loving father. We are blessed to have known him and he will be missed.
