Daniel Eric Steinmeyer, of Town and Country, MO, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Violet for 64 wonderful years; devoted father of David (Debbie), Peter (Patsy), and Philip (Leslie); loving grandfather of eight; and great-grandfather of six. Preceded in death by his father, Theodore, mother Luella, and brother Richard. Dan earned degrees in chemical engineering and economics from Northwestern, Washington University, and Michigan. He spent his career at Monsanto, where he rose to their highest technical level, Distinguished Fellow. Affectionately known as "The Pai" (Portuguese for father) by many who knew him, he traveled the world with Vi and his family, though St. Louis was always home. He particularly enjoyed gardening, the St. Louis Symphony, the Lutheran identity, reading history, romping in the Ozarks, and serving as patriarch of the family. "Be the Best" - he would say, quoting his father, and he was. We will miss you, Pai.
Services: Visitation at the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, on Tuesday, December 2, from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral service at Trinity Lutheran Church (14088 Clayton Road) on Wednesday, December 3, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. My condolences to Vi and her family. She and Dan served so devotedly, and worked hard, for our St Louis Symphony Volunteer Association. Always there to lend a hand, give an idea or chair a committee, I think of them often. Helping share the love of music with area youth was an amazing gift. Blessings to your family.
