Dan Stewart was the kindest, most genuine and well respected individual I've ever experienced the pleasure of knowing. He was a wonderful mentor and a great friend to me. Dan and I were the best of friends way back at Henry Ford HS. I used to walk him to classes and we would sit for hours after school discussing world problems, school friends, etc. I went thru the years with him when he totally lost his sight and he was a trooper thru it all and never complained. He will be missed by everyone who knew him and I know I speak for all his old friends at Henry Ford High!!!!

Of any broadcaster I have known, Dan Stewart's mighty vision for success was unfailing attention to detail, treating all people he knew with respect and dignity...all while he lived, enjoyed, and made the world of radio a better place. For thirty years, going back to the days when we shared working in the great atmosphere of professionalism under Howard Wolfe and Bill Edwards, I have never known Dan to waiver from his principles. Dan was a joygiver, a great gift to those who knew him in the broadcasting world. Dan was the general manager for Liggett Broadcasting in Saginaw while I was fulfilling the same duties in Grand Rapids. I remember a couple of great boat rides with Dan. He was a wonderful guy who will be missed!

I am very surprised and saddened by the death of a very dear old friend. Dan convinced me that I could sell radio advertising in 1970. I began working with Dan in 1998, just before his retirement from WHNN. He was always a pleasure to talk to, whether it was business or pleasure. I enjoyed the times he took me and my now-husband out to dinner and the wonderful stories and jokes he told to us. I was shocked to learn of his death. I started my career, and worked with Dan for 18 great years until his retirement in 1999. He will always be remembered for his strong sense of business integrity and vision. I worked with Dan every day for nine years, 1978 to 1986. It was a special time in his life and mine as our children were young and our occupations were fun and exciting. I could write a book about the things I learned from Dan and the almost legendary capers we embarked upon together. He was a true and trusted friend and his presence improved the world we live in.
