I was introduced to Daniel’s Poetry before I met the person behind the prose, as a volunteer with NEOCH during my college days, one of my tasks was typing Daniel’s many poems onto the computer for publication in the Grapevine.
I did meet Daniel at a local function, and would bump into him from time to time around the city. What always struck me was his immensely strong sense of self, and his truly genuine nature. I was always happy to see mentions of him in local publications, knowing...

I met Daniel 25 years ago when he
attended a film workshop
that I taught. We made a film
starring a certain poet, and
some might now say, prophetically
titled, The Sleeping Poet,
a name of his choosing. I guess
that means he can live on
through motion pictures, as well as
the words from his poems.
I always liked Fruits & Vegetables,
not the most serious of his poems,
but he gave a copy to my Dad
who was...

We are heavy-hearted at the loss of a man with the large heart. Rest in peace Daniel...thinking of you and your Truff together again.

The world is a little sadder for losing another of its dreamers, however, heaven has gained another angel.
Daniel will be remembered by all who knew him as a poet, dreamer, activist and gadfly. He will be sorely missed.
