Not sure what to say?

I wish to remember Dan as a good friend and as a talented artist. We met in South Dakota and I enjoyed his friendship there and back in New Jersey. I still treat my students at Rider University to a selection of Dan's mosasaur paintings; for my money he is still the best at bringing these great beasts back to life. -Bill Gallagher

I only learned of Dan's passing today, nearly a year after his death. My heart goes out to Marcia, my dear friend, with the hope that we can make contact soon. I'd like to convey my deepest sympathy to her in person. I hope that all of Dan's family have found kindness and comfort this year and in the months and years to come for their profound loss.

With much love, Deborah

My deepest sympathies to Dan's family. Dan and I shared time together in South Dakota and Minnesota years ago birding and talking paleontology. We lost track of each other eventually when he moved away, but I still followed his talent for fossil art from afar. I'm so sad to hear of his passing. He was a great guy, always caring, always fun, always very precise in his approach to his painting. I still have a drawing he gave me on my wall because I liked it so much. I'll miss him.

Marcia-
Please accept my deepest sympathy . I was very sad to hear of Dan's passing. Although we haven't seen each other for a while, I will always remember Dan's kindnesses, both when he lived out in South Dakota and back here in New Jersey. I have always thought his paintings and reconstructions best captured the light and movement of underwater life in the Cretaceous seas. Thanks Dan for bringing that world to life-

Dear June, Betsy, Holly, Bonnie and family.
I am so sorry to hear of Dan's passing. I have sweet memories of him from the Brooklyn Park neighborhood until early 70's and the Harmon Place days. He was funny, smart, so talented and always kind. He will be missed by all who knew him. I send my condolences and prayers for comfort to all of the Varner family.

R.I.P Dan Varner, the best marine palaeoartist and the most influencial to my own works. He will be dearly missed, and my thoughts are with his family.

What can I say.
A good friend for over 50 years. Best man at my wedding.
Been a bit out of touch the last decade, but was wonderful to see him this last November when he was able to make his final trip out to Minneapolis. . Miss him greatly.

I haven't seen Dan in many years but I have fond memories of Dan the Dinosaur Man from my childhood. My thoughts are with the Varner family during this time of sorrow.

I never got the chance to meet Dan but have always been a fan of his art work. He will be greatly missed among the Dinosaur community. I wish his family the best and my sincere condolences.
