On Sunday, March 2, 2014, Daniel Lee Walters, age 69, of Las Cruces entered eternal life at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 6, 1944 in Akron. Ohio to William Delbert and Ada Osborne Walters. Daniel served his country honorably, earning the Bronze Star while in the United States Army Rangers during the Vietnam War. He relocated to Las Cruces after retirement as an executive from IBM and was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Survivors include his loving wife of forty years, Arlene Ward Walters of the family home; two sons, Brett Walters and fiancée Emily of Denver, Colorado and Ted Walters and wife Jen of Raleigh, North Carolina; his mother, Ada Walters of Ohio; three sisters, Kathleen Siegfried and husband Norm of Michigan, Sally Fletcher and husband Fred, and Debby Thomas all of Ohio. Other survivors include two grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Daniel was preceded in death by his father, and a daughter, Jodi Marie Walters. At his request cremation will take place and a Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM Thursday, March 6, 2014 at St. Albert the Great Newman Parish, 2615 S. Solano with Reverend Ray Flores officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the New Mexico National Guard Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League-El Perro Diablo Detachment. Inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making contributions to the St. Albert Newman Parish Building Fund, 2615 S. Solano Drive, Las Cruces, NM 88001. Arlene: We're so sorry to hear about Dan's passing from Brad & Ev. We'll always cherish the time that we knew you both and the great fishing adventure we had at Lake of the Woods in Canada. Thank you so much for being our friends for those many years in Texas.

Arlene, Dave and I just learned about Dan's passing. So many years have gone by and just recently both of you have been on our hearts.
