Not sure what to say?

Grandpa,

I think about you every day. It is hard to put into words what you meant to me and how you have affected me as a person. You taught me how to tease and helped mold my sence of humor. You taught me that you choose to be happy and to do things no matter how you feel. Your only as old as you think you are. I miss you so very much.
Sending a Hug and a stolen kiss

I will miss Dan. His dry humor was always much appreciated and his stories were much enjoyed. Dan and Jo have been passives members of the Liedertafel Harmonie, the German Choir here in Portland, for many years, attending our events and concerts. We had a lot of good times and we will all miss him very much. In addition I will remember fondly the great parties Jo and Dan hosted at their beautiful farm. They were truly special events.
Jo, my prayers are with you and your lovely family,...

Grandpa hated to be tickled, but he secretly loved it as it was a part of our tradition to get him to laugh. He was stubborn but it was all in love and laughter; I could see his smile behind his playful hard shell he pretended to have. I love him, I miss him.

I wish I could have know Dan better, but with the few times I've spent with him and by knowing his family, I know he is a great man. We'll miss him and we'll be sure Elena here's lots of great stories about him!

May this godly family be encouraged & comforted by the fact that a future reunion with this godly patriarch is certain. What a rich heritage you have! God bless you!

Anyone who love Dixeland Jazz must have loved life. Now he is dancing in heaven. He is rejoicing in the presence of God. We will all get to join in on the dance one day when God takes us home. To be married to the same woman for 59 years is a miracle in this day and age and he deserves recognition just for that. It would have been a honor to know the man but I get a sense for who is by his Obituary.

Daniel J. Weidner 11th Airborne Division

This picture of my father he is about age 18. He was very proud and happy to be serving in the Army. Thank you for the beautiful sentiments. They mean so much to our family. Father was a gentle giant, and our family's hero.

Dan, gone but never forgotten. One of the Greatest Generation. He was everything I wish I could be, a great Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and a true friend. Rest in peace, Dan, you earned it.

One of my "Angels" has gone on to Heaven above.

My father, brother, younger brother and I were liberated from behind Japanese Lines, at Los Banos, in the Philippine Islands, on February 23, 1945. Had the 11th Airborne "Angels" not arrived that morning, all 2,142 of us who were still alive would have been executed - trenches had been dug for our bodies.

May God bless Daniel and those who served in the 11th Airborne.
