Woodfin Funeral Chapel - Smyrna Obituary

Danny Ray Thornhill Sr (Dan), age 66 of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, January 2nd, at StoneCrest Medical Center. He was the son of the late Willard Eugene and Willie Mae Thornhill.

He is survived by his son, Danny Ray Thornhill Jr. and his wife Hope Cook; his brothers Eugene Willard Thornhill and Gregory Thornhill; a sister Cathy Thornhill; his girlfriend Rosa Savage; and his beloved grandbabies, Dahlia Roux Cook, Daxton Lee Cook, Xadrian "Littleman" Poe, Katelyn Vanwinkle, Dominic Vanwinkle, Madison Vanwinkle; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Dan was raised in Apopka Florida but decided to take root and raise his family in Smyrna Tennessee. He was happily married to Marla Thornhill for over 30 years before she passed 6 years ago. Together they raised their only child, Danny Thornhill Jr. Dan worked over the years with several of the construction companies who helped build and develop Smyrna into what it is today.  In his retired years he took to his old love of riding motorcycles, mowing yards with his zero turn, and spending all the time he could with his son and grand babies. He is very missed and very much loved.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Woodfin Funeral Chapels and no services are planned. An online guestbook is available for the Thornhill family at www.woodfinchapel.com.

I'm so sorry for your loss! I always enjoyed chatting with him at dismissal. He always had such kind things to say with a smile.
