Dante, to me is San Francisco. I played for him at New Pisa for 11 years. He and Marino Pieretti befriended me when I came to him and his semi-pro team. He advised me and guided me for the Columbus Day softball game in which many San Francisco oldtimers played. He will always be the man I will look up to. A true gentleman. to the benedetti family, my deepest and sincere sympathy on the loss of dante. i've known him for close to 50 years and he never failed to impress me with his generosity, honesty, and his love of sports was was second only to love of family. i truly believe that every hand he ever shook was attached to a new family member. joe d. was right when he called dante "mr. baseball".
