Not sure what to say?

I remember like yesterday when my dear friend and fellow runner, Jill Hall introduced my husband and me to Daphne and JoAnne. It was the year they moved the Victory Bowl 10k from Mobile to the Grand Hotel in Point Clear. I think it may have been Jill who encouraged Daphne to run and possibly one of her first races. We lived in Brewton and later in Atmore but would see Daphne at every race we ran in Mobile or the Fairhope area. Daphne was like Jill - an encourager to so many. She was an icon...

When I ran my first marathon at 39, Daphne almost beat my friend. She said, "Help me Tina. Daphne is about to pass me!" Daphne was amazing.

Daphne was such a wonder lady. Fairhope is a better town for having her as a very loved citizen and friend.

My condolences

So sorry Joanne to hear of your loss. She was a great lady and so are you! Love, Cassandra and David

Jo Ann and family I´m so sorry. Your mother was such a treasure. I always enjoyed talking to her when she worked at Colonial Bank downtown as well as when I would see her out and about. Hugs and love to all of you. Such a long well lived life!

What a wonderful lady!! Mrs. Daphne will be missed tremendously. A bright light, an instant joy, a very precious & sweet soul. My heart is better for having met & spent time with her. Thank you Lord! Thank you Mrs. Daphne. Love you sweet lady, Charlotte

I first met Miss Daphne on the streets of Mobile during the Azalea Trail Run. She asked if I ran and I said no. I was in a clown costume and asked why she wanted to know. Her reply was you should because you have the legs of a runner. That made me laugh but shortly after that I started running. Miss Daphne encouraged all she met and greeted everyone with a smile. I will cherish my memories of her waving to others during races. Our world was better because she was in it.

Daphne was such a fine example of what it means to be a kind, caring and wonderful citizen of our great country. I will always remember establishing my first bank account with her at Colonial Bank in Fairhope. This place will not be the same without her running and walking around the streets as she was so consistent about doing. It always brought a smile to my face to see her around town and we all had the good fortune of seeing her often as she loved to run. My deepest condolences. She will...
