BUCKLEY — Darlene "Loney" Alsup, 72, entered into Eternal Life on Nov. 13, 2007, and was reunited with her husband, James Alsup, who preceded her in death in 2001.

Darlene was born June 4, 1935, to Jerry and Norma Cronk. She moved from Detroit to Beulah in 1969 with her first husband, David Loney, who preceded her in death in 1998.

Darlene worked in the Equalization Department of the Government Center for 17 years until her retirement and marriage to James Alsup. Together they enjoyed many winters camping in Olde Towne, Fla., where their motor home lot quickly became the focus of the campground for fun and activities.

Darlene enjoyed family functions, knitting, jigsaw puzzles and interacting with her grandchildren and their friends. It wasn't uncommon to drop by her apartment at The Homesteader and find it filled with kids.

Survivors include her children, Cheryl and David Marlin of Buckley, Denise and Paul Kerridge of Beulah, Lynn and Richard Mann of Interlochen, Dave and Kate Loney of Benzonia, and Jackie and Dan McAlister of South Dakota. Grandchildren include Erika and Dave Schafer of Trenary, Justin Rineer, Matt Kerridge, Dave and Heather Yacks, Jeffrey Yacks, Jessica (Ricky Worm), Jenny, Danny (Ashley Giglio), Sara, David, Mason, Matty and Emily Loney. Great-grandchildren include Noah, Chandler, Brent and Bevie Yacks. Special friends include Sara Papineau, Jim Yacks, Richard and Betsy Kalcec, and the staff at The Homesteader.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at Eden Bible Church on Worden Road in Beulah, where Darlene and Jim were members. Pastor Dan Ingersoll will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Eden Bible Church for children's activities or a charity of choice.

Arrangements were made by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services; www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com.

Not sure what to say?

Darlene was a loving and fun person. She and Jim were great people to have in our little community at Kampvilla. She gave Ken and I an "application to date my daughter" We have had so much fun with that and our daughters and think of her when we talk of it. She was a great person and will be missed.

Our Dear Darlene: How much you will be missed by all of us. We will never ever forget your ability to make things right, even if we were wrong. You were the wise one among us and taught us so much. We love you and will miss you so terribly, just sorry we did not get to see more of you in the past few years-no excuses just sorry. Am sure we will meet again and misbehave as before. Love your friends Skip and Dorothy

We love you Grandma Teeth. You will forever be remembered. Your honesty, thoughtfulness, and compasion are some of the things my family will miss. You always gave the best advice and were always there to comfort. You looked at everyone as an equal. You were truly a blessing from god. We love you Grandma Teeth always did and always will.

I am so sorry to hear the loss of Darlene. She is a wonderful person and always will be very special to us, she touched so many lives. I got to meet her when I moved into Kampvilla and she made me feel very welcome.

So so very sorry that Miss Darlene is no longer with us but so very happy she is in heaven with everyone she loves.
