Darlene Ann GEHRKE

From the Gehrke and Roman Families, I extend our heart felt gratitude for the outpouring of love and compassion during this very difficult time. Darlene will remain in our hearts forever.

I'm so very sad to hear of Ms. Gehrke's passing. I am a fellow teaher at Cross Bayou Elem. She was a kind person and an amazing artist. My sympathies to you all.

I regret being unable to attend the memorial service for Darlene. However, I will always cherish the wonderful visit I had with the Gehrke family at Fort Knox. Darlene was an exemplar of the faith and she lived a saintly life consecrated to our Lord. She was Army Strong through and through. Cliff... I was saddened to learn the news about Darlene. You were always a couple who really knew how to make a marriage work, based on love, honor, and mutual respect. There really are no words to describe such a loss for a loving husband and family.

To paraphrase Hebrews 12, Darlene "ran with perseverance the race marked out for her", and in doing so created a legacy of courage and grace under adversity which will remain forever with those who know her story.
