Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home, Elwood Obituary

Darling Mae “Dar” Boyland, age 63 of Elwood, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025 at her home holding her loving husband’s hand, following a courageous battle with cancer.  Dar was born July 4, 1961, the daughter of Charles and Mary Jo (Vandiver) Knotts.  She was a 1980 graduate of Tipton High School.  Dar worked as an accountant at Drews Parts Co. in Anderson for 14 years until just recently retiring in 2025.  She married the love of her life, Jeffrey A. Boyland, on October 18, 1980, and they spent 44 years of marriage together.  Dar was a former member of Salem Baptist Church and loved to listen to Gospel music.  She was a devoted homemaker and caring for her family was one of the most important aspects of her life.  Dar absolutely loved attending all her children and grandchildren’s sporting events.  She was known for always putting other’s needs before her own.  Dar will be remembered as a devoted wife, mom, and Nana.

Dar’s family includes her husband of 44 years, Jeff Boyland of Elwood; 3 children, Matthew (Lee) Boyland of Tipton, Cory (Tiffany) Boyland of Frankton, and Brittany (Zach) Woodbury of Ridgeville; 7 grandchildren, Maximus, Quinn, Sylas, Tess, Blair, Knotts, and Roe; father-in-law, Ronald Boyland of Elwood; step-mother, Sandie Knotts of Elwood; 4 siblings, Diana (Hector) Ramirez of Texas, Audie (Pam) Wells of Illinois, Tawny (Jeff) McDaniels of Elwood, and Daphne Wells of Elwood; 2 brothers-in-law, Gary (Christy) Boyland and Ron (Kelli) Boyland; special dog, “Hope”; special friends, Angel Huntsman and Kim Miller; several nieces and nephews; and many special cousins and friends.  Dar was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law, Mary Boyland; and paternal grandparents, Leroy and Viola Knotts.

Dar’s wishes were to have a private funeral at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home with burial following at Curtisville Cemetery in Tipton County.  A public celebration of Dar’s life will be held at a later date.  Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital through the funeral home.  If anyone would like to send flowers or memorial gifts to the Boyland family, please reach out to the funeral home to have that arranged.  Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home is honored to handle Dar’s arrangements.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
