Darrell was a good man and lived a full life. I thank him for his service to our country and the neat boat rides he gave us on his lake. It is unfortunate that medical science has not reached the point where diseases like his can be more effectively treated. It is sad, too, that his heart attack squelched his hope of a lung transplant, argggg. I am happy that I had a chance to say a last goodbye to Darrell and spend some time with Karla!

Karla, I am Darrell’s cousin Brad. We were pretty close cousins when we were kids; it still seems like yesterday. My Mom and Mary were sisters and we would visit them very often when they lived in Waterloo and after they moved to Keokuk.
