DOYLESTOWN – Darrell Franklin Lucas, age 65, died November 13, 2008 at his home.

Funeral service will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, 44230 with Rev. Fleary Spurlock officiating. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, military honors will be conducted. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to: Hospice of VNS, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333.

Darrell Lucas was born March 12, 1943 in Chapmanville, West Virginia to Rafe and Fannie Mae (Duty) Lucas. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Vietnam War. He married Mary Hopkins on November 14, 1987, she survives. Darrell had been a resident of Doylestown for 21 years. He retired from Chrysler and had formerly worked for Watkins Transportation. He was a member of the Wadsworth Eagles, Rittman Moose Lodge and the Doylestown American Legion.

In addition to his wife, Mary Lucas of Doylestown he is survived by stepsons, Daniel (Ami) Hopkins of Norton, John (Cheryl) Hopkins of Rittman, Christopher (Jamie) Hopkins of Clinton, Timothy Hopkins of 29 Palms, California and Steven (Traci) Hopkins of Doylestown; 12 grandchildren; brother, Rafe (Emma) Lucas, Jr. of Texas; sisters, Gertrude L. Wood and Patricia Eloise (Vern) Hoffman, all of Pennsylvania; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Bill Frederick of Doylestown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Mareni Lu’ Hopkins; brother, Roy E. Lucas; sisters, Marilyn Murr, Anna Ruth Akers, Olive P. Kenny and Nancy Jerin.
