Not sure what to say?

Carolyn,
I just want to send a quiet word to extend my deepest sympathy to you and your family. Few men have been held in as high esteem as he was for many years.

Sincerely,
Judy Burgess Ready

I must agree with Mary Ann Cole-Smith, he was always Mr. Root to all of my classmates throughout our lives whenever we talked of him. I believe it was because we truly admired and respected him from the time we first met him as students to our adult lives. I, for one, will remember his kindness and smile. Prayers to his entire family.

"Mr. Roots" passing...the class of 1965 still called him Mr. Root no matter how old we all have gotten. He was unable to attend our 45th last summer but still asked about us all. We will miss him...he was a real inspiration to us all & still referred to me as the wild lady ! mary ann cole-smith

My last two years at Madison High school were Darrell's first two years there. He immediately learned my name and took a personal interest in me. His encouragement was largely responsible for motivating me to attend college and become a teacher and administrator. I owe a lot to him. My condolences go out to his family and friends.

Dear Carolyn and Family,
My deepest sympathy is extended to all of you. Darrell was a great friend and colleague and will certainly be missed. Praying for peace and comfort for you.
