On this Memorial Day I spent time reflecting on those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Lance Corporal Schumann's passing is the singular event that made Memorial Day's meaning personal to me. I appreciate all the information that has memorialized Darrel's name. I've only now am learning of his fate. Darrell was one of the first friends I made at Chugiak High School, and one of the only friendships that lasted during some pretty low years.
