Not sure what to say?

I love your family all of you have been a blessing to us . Our memories of Darrell were coming to church the last time and he wanted no help . It took every ounce of strength he had to get there. There world would be a better place if there were more Darrell Smiths.

Hello Smith Family,
Sending thoughts and great memories of your dad on this anniversary. He was a great man...special hello to Joan my Kentfield singing mentor...you gave to me and all your students great joy and musical memories.
Love to everyone, Sheila

My mentor. My friend. My role mode. Great to have served with you in San Quentin Prison. Great to have hiked with you on weekends. Great to have had you as my Church leader. Great to have had you as my doctor. So great to just know you. Thank you for your example--it strengthened the testimonies of all those around you. Until we meet again.

Dear Joan,
Our deepest sympathy to you at this time of loss of your lifetime sweetheart. We miss seeing him at church, he was so devoted and example for all of us. We had the greatest respect for him. Sorry we weren't able to make the services, our prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Joan,

Please accept my sincere condolences on Darrell's passing. He will always be in my mind and heart a beacon of humanity and a sterling example for his fellow human beings. I will never forget his kindness to me or the tremendous generosity of you, Joan, and your family to me. May you recieve great solace from the profound regard that all who knew him certainly had for him.

Fondly,

Warren Rothman

The Weakly Readers Book Club has lost a loyal member and close friend. His analysis, insight and contributions to each "read" were helpful and thought provoking. He shall certainly be missed. We collectively send our condolences and best wishes to you, Joan.

Dearest Joan and family, I had the pleasure of knowing the entire Smith family through my weekly singing lessons in Kentfield,Ca. Often Mr.Smith was just getting home or on his way to another responsibility. He always said hello and seemed so patient with his family and the dogs that would howl along with my scales. I know how much he accomplished but the biggest virtue was the obvious love he had for his wife Joan and all the kids. He was a great role model, so kind. Thinking about Joan...

I wish I could be there to say goodbye to a man who played such a significant role in my rescue. Bishop Smith helped me find the gospel of Jesus Christ, and he taught me that the Savior loves every soul and knows each of us personally. I had experiences with Bishop Smith that transformed a wayward young man into who I am today--experiences so sacred that I have never shared them with anyone. As I served as a Bishop myself, I tried to emulate one of the greatest Bishops in my life. He leaves...

Truly a sweet, tender compassionate man.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
