Darrell was, above all else, one of God's special men. He was also a gentle man who loved Texas, UT, and books. He also knew how to be a good friend. The world will miss his gentle spirit.

I had the great pleasure of working with Darrell at UT Press and consider myself lucky to not only have worked with him at the press - but to now be able to call myself a fellow book sales rep. He was a true gentleman, a wonderfully smart Texan, and a credit to The University of Texas.

Darrell loved his family, Texas, and books fiercely, but he walked gently on the earth. The world is a poorer place without him. I will be thinking about Belinda, Sam and his wife, and all Darrell's family in the hard days ahead.

Darrell was a great person to work with. He had an incredible knowledge of books and the bookselling business, and an equally broad knowledge of Texas Longhorn football history. He was a true gentleman and will be much missed, and his family is in my thoughts.
