Darren served under me in the 308th third platoon. I was his platoon sergeant. I remember him every year and visit his final resting place. It saddens me to this day to have lost such a great American Hero. I recall his insistant thirst for knowledge and proficientcy. His lust to be the best. I gave him everything I knew. He proved to be the better man. I love him to this day as a brother, friend, and comrade. He gave his life to save others. This is the man I remember; Selfless,...

As a mother of a former U.S. Marine (Gulf War 1990) I wanted to inform you that I wear the black "fallen Soldier" band in memory of Darren D. Howe. And that he will be thought of in the State of Michigan.
