Not sure what to say?

I never had the chance to meet Darryl (we live in Wisconsin) but I think we would have got along great. My husband, Steve, was his cousin. Our sympathies to his daughters and his mother, Noralene (who I did have the opportunity to meet a few years ago at a family party.) It soulnds like he lived a grand life! Steve and Katie Beeson

Wow! What a shock. This was passed on to me by a fellow classmate. Darryl was our teacher in Houston. I was taking his class to learn more about wine as my wife and I were on the verge of opening a wine bar. I learned much from Darryl. Not only about wine, but service as well.
Our wine bar has only been open three months and I think of Darryl often because we have been successful at it due to what I learned from Darryl. Thanks Darryl. I will toast you often. He will be missed.

I just now read of his death. I am so sorry. He lived in our neighborhood, Kings Hwy Conservation District, in Oak Cliff. Several times he would donate wine for some of our neighborhood functions, such as our First Fridays. These are social gatherings held monthly at various neighbor's homes. Darryl was witty, intelligent, and always enjoyable to talk with. We will miss him.

I knew Darryl from our days at Garland High School where we worked together on the school newspaper "The Owl's Eye." Although our paths had not crossed in many years-I remember him with great fondness.

I had the pleasure of working with Darryl at the French Room. His quick wit and infinite wine knowledge will truly be missed. I'm glad I had the chance to know him. Cheers Darryl

I met Darryl on a press trip to Chile some years ago. I quickly learned that I could always count on Darryl for a good joke or a willing partner in adventure. The two of us shared several meals and many glasses of wine throughout the small town where, despite his lack of Spanish, Darryl's wit and larger than life personality, filled the room with smiles. My condolences to the family for your loss.

We are saddened to hear of Darryl's passing. He was a friend of ours from Garland High school and we will miss him very much. Our condolences to his family. Find strength in each other.

Darryl was also proud of his roots in radio in Dallas-Fort Worth, and was a semi-regular at our quarterly DFW 'radio people' lunch gatherings. We'll miss him and his warmth and wit.

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Darryl's passing. We met on a press trip some years ago. Later, he was kind enough to grant me permission to run many of his columns that had already been published elsewhere.

Darryl was a fine writer and had a wicked sense of humor.

His work enhanced my publications. His friendship enhanced my life.
