We heard the news yesterday. We knew Darryl and Rhonda very well and we will always cherish the fond memories we shared.

Papa Darryl will always be in our hearts and thoughts. He was a wonderful and generous person, always welcoming the grandkids into his home and tolerating (very well!) all of the fun, play, and noise that came along with them! We always knew we would never be alone because he and grandma Ronnie were always there, no matter what. The kids just loved him so much. We all did, still do, and always will. He taught them to golf, use a fishing pole, and took them on their first boat ride. Darryl's strength and courage during the treatment of his illness is such an inspiration, and a true testament to the kind of man he was.
Thank you, Papa Darryl, for 12 years of love, encouragement, generosity, and wisdom. I will do my best to make sure the kids grow up following the examples you lead by, and rest easier knowing you're watching over them. Our thoughts are with you and Ronnie today as you're laid to rest. I bet there's an awesome golf course in heaven with your name all over it!

Dear Rhonda and All,
I remember Darryl's all-encompassing love for the wonderful Rhonda. I wish you had spent many more years together. I recall Darryl's smile,voice, cheerful personality and of course, "The Hair."

I worked with Darryl on many Hobart projects over the years and we always took the time to laugh. Darryl and I also played golf when I was in Florida. One time when I was ready to tee off about 100 yards away several little squirrels were gathering under a tree. And Darryl leans in and says to me "don't hit the squirrels". As you can imagine I hit the ball directly at the squirrels (unintentionally) and they all scattered! I look back and Darryl is crying because he is laughing so hard! So from then on, every email, phone call etc. that I got from him, he always signed off with "Don't Hit The Squirrels". I will miss Darryl (my friend)very much and I pray for you and your family that you will cherish his memory. I feel so lucky to have known Darryl.
