This is a saddening shock. Darwin and I were historical wargame hobby friends, and I can remember like yesterday (40 years ago?) going to a Chicago (suburb) gaming convention in the dead of summer in a high-rise hotel which had had broken air conditioning. Thanks to Darwin and Peter, it was still a great time. :-)

I am saddened to hear of Darwin's passing. I enjoyed his comradeship at many convention auctions in Chicago and in my hometown Detroit. My game collection was never as large as his. When he and Peter culled the collection in 1981, I won an auction of one of their games. Rest peacefully my friend. While I hold back the tears, I will smile when I think of you and recall those memories. Please reserve a seat for me in a game of Empire Builder.

I was so very sad to hear about the loss of Darwin. He was always someone who had a special place in my heart. We were friends and associates in the 80s at Synergy Team and we all had a great time! I remember visiting him one time in Chicago at his apartment and how cool I thought it was that he had his whole wall in the bedroom filled with games from floor to ceiling.
