Not sure what to say?

It was 1974 and Providence Rhode Island had a pre-season game most likely with Loyola Marymount of Los Angeles as I saw Gavitt with I thnk must be Bob Cooper because he was 6-7 and he had a unique drill of tapping of the glass then, still having full contact with the basketball and making the layup and that year the statistics show that Providence has a record of 28-4, and that time and maybe Bob remembers me I was about 5-5 and 13 years old took a shot from the top of the key from the far...

We admired him throughout the years. He will be missed.

Dear Julie and family, We were so saddened to hear from Jody about Davids' passing a few weeks ago and send our heartfelt condolences to you and your family. We didn't know David very well, but the times we did see him were always filled with warmth and good cheer!
Much strength in the coming time. Peter and Georgia Regnault, The Netherlands

Michael, I lived next door to you and Dave when we were little, back in the late 40s. Our families remained friends for years after my parents and i moved away. I've followed Dave's career with interest over all these years and would just like to convey my condolences to you and all of the family at this sad time. I'd love to hear from you. Dear Mrs. Gavitt and family,
I'am very sorry to read of your loss. Coach Gavitt will always remain a special coach to me .Most of all he was one of the nicest and genuine human beings I have ever meet..He gave me a special opportunity to play for him at PC that changed my life in a positive way forever. Eventhough, our team in 1978-79 was so very young and inexperienced I will always remember and admire his patience , kindness & repsect for all his players.
God Bless

Danny,
You make your Dad proud. He and your Mom brought up a true gentleman. It was a pleasure to have worked with you in the PC Baskeball Office, and a real treat to have met your parents who, in spite of fame and status, always maintained humility and always kept focused on life's true treasures. I know your Dad's spirit will live on in you and Corey.

To the Gavitt Family,
My sincere sympathies to you all for your loss. Having dealt with a variety of high-profile personalities during my career over the years, I can say without hesitation that Dave was the most genuine, sincere, and down-to-earth guy I ever came across. Once he knew you were from PC, you always had an edge in the competition for his attention. I will miss that smile, wink and the nod he gave when I would see him on occasion. A true class act. We are all very privileged...

Julie, Dan, and Corey,
As the country mourns the loss of a Coach, a Mentor, a Businessman, we must remember that Dave was much more than that; Dave was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother, and a friend to many. Dave's true legacy will live on through his beautiful family! God Bless.

Dear Mrs. Gavitt - our deepest sympathies to you and your family. Your husband was a leader and an icon for RI and for the basketball world. My mother, Joan McMaster, was a good friend of yours. I wish you and your family much comfort.
