David Scott Adams, 53, of Groton died suddenly Sunday, March 1, 2020 at his residence. David was born on January 30, 1967 in Gadsden, AL to Billie M. and Sarah Y. Adams (Walters).


He was a 1988 graduate of Robert E. Fitch High School, Groton.  David was employed for a number of years at Bradlee’s in Groton and later retired from the Sub base Commissary Store.


David was a past member of the Poquonnock Bridge Volunteer Fire Company where he earned the nickname “The Dude.”  He loved a good fire truck ride.


In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister Dana Parfitt (John), nephews Tim Parfitt,  James (Rose) Parfitt, niece Erin Gordon (Calvin), great-niece Onastasha Parfitt and great-nephew Owin Parfitt. He is predeceased by his father and sister, Pamela E. Adams.


Visiting hours will be held from 4 - 6 p.m., Saturday, March 7th at Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames Street, Groton. His funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 8th at Bishop Seabury Anglican Church, 6 Hurlbutt Road, Gales Ferry.  Burial will follow in Smith Lake Cemetery in Groton

Our sincere condolences and prayers, David was a good soul, God bless him!

I had the pleasure of working with David at the Commissary for 15 years, we became close and i see as another member of my family, we had some great times then, i was sad to see him go then and I'm definitely sad to see him go now, I'm gonna miss you brother live always Randy Morton.

It was with great pleasure having known you and sharing some great times at the fire house. I have a lot of fantastic memories of my time as a volunteer at PBVFD and most of them included you. You were always on the scene ready and willing to help, support and keep our spirits up. David Adam's Always been there for us and he love been at UCP Of Eastern Ct. and been loved by his family and Friends he Always been our Hearts and prayers to him. He is a close friend to us and a neighbor. He Loves the Patriots and Red Sox he is a wonderful friend and almost like a brother to me. he Always. Been there us when we need him Rest and Peace my friend.
