Not sure what to say?

David and I shared a room together on the ship going to Vietnam in 1965. That was the only time I had the privilege of sharing time with him. Once we landed in Vietnam, we went our separate ways . I have always remembered that he enjoyed life and had a passion for coins. I always hoped to visit with him later in life but never had the opportunity to do do. Sadly I will never have that chance to talk with him. If you would want to talk to me about my short time with him please call me. 574...

I am so sorry to just hear of Mr. Akers' recent passing. Although I did not know him well personally, he was instrumental in my education in relation to U.S. gold coins which I still specialize in to this day after 30 years as a professional numismatist and dealer. At the very beginning of my career, Richard Nachbar recommended David's series of books on the gold coin series, which were then purchased, and to this day still serves as a valuable reference. Although now dog-eared and bruised,...

Dear Heather and Sharron,

We are very saddened to hear of David's passing. I will always remember his kindness to you and to all. You all are in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Amanda Gonzalez

A great man, with great accomplishments. He was always helpful with his vast knowledge. As a stranger with a request he never hesitated to assist. Great men always live on. Hany Haddad

Dear Sharron and Heather,

We were deeply saddened by the news of David's passing. We have lost a wonderful friend. David was a most unique and inspiring person. He was extremely intelligent, had an incredible memory, a quick and engaging wit, and a warm and generous personality. We admired the integrity and ethics which characterized his business and personal reputation. He was the consummate Notre Dame man. While our Notre Dame bond united us in that fraternity of graduates, it...

I am saddened to learn of David's passing. He was instrumental in my success in the numismatic world. On my first day at Paramount International he took me out of the telephone sales training program and assigned me to work with Tom Mulvaney in the publication department. Thanks to David's intervention, I have had more than 35 years of success writing newspaper ads, newsletter articles, press releases, direct mail flyers, product inserts, auction marketing material, executive speeches,...

May the God of comfort be with family and friends during this time of distress.

Dear Sharron and Heather,

On behalf of Ray and myself, on the passing of Dave, I just wanted you to know that I am thinking of you and remembering some very good times when we were all part of Paramount. Dave was truly an outstanding man.
Ray now lives in Alzheimer care but I know somewhere in his lost memory he would agree with me.

Love to you and your family,
Pat Merena

My name is Pat Patrick and like Gene Alfarone knew David from 1st grade on at Beacon Hill through Franklin. His dad was the custodian at the Beacon Hill. Dave was one of the very good guys and a friend to everyone. My condolences to the family.
