Bradley's Funeral Home & Crematory - Marion Obituary

MARION, VA

David Mack Anders, age 65, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at his home in Marion, VA.

Dave was born in Marion, VA, on April 2, 1959. He dedicated nearly 30 years to Merillat in Atkins before working at several other manufacturing plants throughout his career. Known affectionately as “Big Dave” by family and friends, he had a lively personality and loved to joke and have fun. A passionate card player, he also enjoyed cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Braves. Family was at the heart of Dave’s life—he stayed in close contact with his sisters, nieces, and nephews, always calling or welcoming visitors who came by to lend a hand. His greatest joy was being “Papaw Dave,” as his grandchildren were the light of his world.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents James & Elizabeth Norman Anders; great grandparents John & Ella Mae Norman; brothers James “Mike” Anders and Jerry Anders; nieces Lori Winters Couch and Michelle Anders Wyatt; and brothers-in-law Dave Russell, Bob Freeman, and David Webb.

He is survived by his daughter Latasha “Tash” Mullins & husband Jared; sisters Peggy Freeman, Linda Harrington & husband Jimmy, Brenda Winters & husband Randy, and Bonnie Webb; grandchildren Logan Mullins and Kailey “Kay Bug” Mullins; sisters-in-law Joan Anders and Nancy Anders; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; numerous friends and a special aunt Anna Lee Plummer.

Private graveside funeral services will be held at Nicks Creek Community Cemetery in Atkins. The family will have a private visitation at the Bradley’s Funeral Home Chapel in Marion. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com. Bradley’s Funeral Home of Marion is serving the Anders Family.

Not sure what to say?

I'm saddened to see that Dave passed away. I didn't know him very well but I do know him as a funny and caring guy. He and I knew each other through Facebook. I spent a lot of lonely nights in the hospital after a car crash and Dave and I would talk a lot. He would cheer me up and give me hope that I would get better and be out of there in no time. I'm going to miss our late night chats.

Peggy, Bonnie & Family ,
I am so sorry for the loss of your Brother May God give you peace and Comfort you thru this difficult time.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

I am so sorry to hear this. Linda Jimmy and family, Brenda, and Bonnie. I love you all and you are all in my prayers. Condolences to all the family.

This just breaks my heart to see where Dave has passed away. Sending my love and deepest sympathy to his family. He was always so nice to me, he will never be forgotten.

Big D you were such a good friend to Dad. Hopefully you will meet him again at the heavenly auction house. God bless you and give you rest.

R.I.P. Big Dave. I fondly remember the many years we worked together at Merillat. I enjoyed our many walks/talks on the lumber yard and predriers. We solved world problems during those walks LOL.

Family, so sorry for this heartache! May the peace of Jesus permeate your lives as HE walks among you!

Dave, it's for sure been far too long since we've seen each other. Back in day you could work circles around most men. When you drove the big lifts, you could thread needles with one. I remember when you left Merrilat to help Darrell Goff out at that plant in Kentucky. I think you were a big help to those folks. I think about you often Dave. I know you're in a good place. I hope to see you there one day.
