Not sure what to say?

Mr Atherton was my Economics teacher in 1993-95. As a teacher, he was exceptional as he was inspirational. We’re it not for him, I would not have applied to Cambridge to study medicine.
I’m sure like me, many others will have been inspired, guided and encouraged by him.
Truly saddened to hear of his passing away.

David Atherton was my first form teacher at UGS in 1970. He was a truly lovely man and gifted teacher. He taught me history In my first two years at UGS. So sorry to hear he has passed away.

David Atherton's Economics class at Winstanley College, 2004

I had the privilege of being taught Economics by David 2003 - 2005, and he also took me through the Oxbridge application process. I was an anxious, perfectionist student and David's wisdom and kindness stood out to me. He was a wonderful teacher and I will miss him greatly.

I was so sorry to hear about David Atherton passing away. I had the pleasure of him being my A Level Economics lecturer from 1984 - 1986 (as did my sister, Heather, two years later). Mr Atherton was a brilliant teacher and that A level course was so interesting. I went on to study Economics as part of my Business Studies and German degree. We both still rave about Economics A level to any student we come across.

I went on to work at BAE Systems as a buyer, living in Munich for ten...

Mr. Atherton was a brilliant teacher. I have never forgotten him. I was a student in the first class he taught at UpHolland Grammar. (Probably 50 years ago). I am so sad to read this. I hope he knew what a fantastic mentor and amazing teacher he was.
