Not sure what to say?

My condolences to David's family, friends, and Sandy. I had the privilege of sharing a poetry reading and lunch with David and Sandy in Douglasville, Georgia.

I am eternally grateful to have had David Axelrod as a friend, fellow teacher, and artist. When I spent six months in Daytona Beach on sabbatical, he helped me find housing, welcomed me into his home on numerous occasions, and invited me to many poetry events. I always looked forward to reading his work, and he never failed to share his latest poems with me. His compassion, generosity, and love of poetry were unsurpassed. David made a difference wherever he lived, and Volusia County, Florida,...

I will miss Zayde :(

Rest in peace, sir. Thank you for your mentorship for our High School literary magazine nearly 10 years ago. I still read the book you gave me. Thank you for paving the way for Volusia-based poets and writers who come after you.

I love you dad, forever and always. I'm everything because of you, and I'd have been nothing without you.

In my prayers. He came to our Riverhead poetry group many years ago. That summer he was my poetry instructor at Dowling College summer workshop. He was very impressive to me and I clicked my camera..as an artist it became his portrait after he gave us suggestions to write creatively what was felt while for one half hour he spoke different situations. It reminded me of an incident at Montauk and through his suggestions, my poem I Want To Go Back was written and published in an Anthology. ...

You were one of a kind. You will be missed and remembered.

Dr. Axelrod took me in as a mentor and spent a lot of time helping me make my poetry better, then publishing it. We spent many a happy hour arguing over the meaning and arrangement of words. My days will be a lot emptier without him calling me up to go to lunch and talk about poets and poetry.

Dave was my dear Friend. He revealed & shared much with me. I hold all the moments we were together in high esteem and I´m thankful for the changes I´ve experienced due to his insightful suggestions. He opened doors for me. I Love You DAVE ... Thank You- Bruce
