Donna & I were shocked to hear of David's Illness and send Mary and her Family our sincere condolences. I always remembered David as my Science teacher at Agawam Jr. High as a highlite in my education; very likeable and fair man. We wish your family many peaceful memories and stay well.

To the Bates family it was with great sadness to hear about Dave. He was a friendly kind man.The friendship my dad and Dave had was such a blessing. The two of them did a great job taking care of each other. Oh what laughs they had!
I truly hope your memories bring you some comfort.

He had a major impact on countless students and, thus, their families. He...

I fondly remember my 7th and 8th grade science classes with Mr. Bates at Agawam Junior High. He made them so interesting and I developed a life long interest in science. My sincere condolences to all his family members. He made a difference.

Playing golf with Dave was more about good conversation and story telling rather than the game. He will be missed.
