David C. Batzer II, 59 years old of Bad Axe, passed away on January 4, 2023 at McLaren Flint Hospital.


David was born on February 26, 1963 in Manistee, Michigan to Patti Batzer and the late David Batzer. David was a graduate of Bad Axe High School and attended Ferris State University. He graduated from their school of Optometry in 1988. He operated his Optometry business in Bad Axe and Cass City for 34 years, and cared for and was very dedicated to his patients.


Dave loved spending time at Verona Hills Golf Course and served on the Board of Directors, was past club president, two time Club Champion, multiple runner-ups and Invitational Champion. Dave loved playing golf with his friends, and especially his foursome. When he was not working or golfing, he loved playing Keno, singing Karaoke, working in his yard and spending precious time with his family.


Dave is survived by his wife who was his partner in life- Katie, his daughters Victoria (Kelly) Durr and Clare Batzer; his mother Patti Batzer; his brother Pete (Karen) Batzer; nephews Brian Batzer, Craig Batzer, Andrew (Kayla) Batzer, Benjamin Rogers, Jeremy Rogers; brother in law Jim Rogers;  mothers in law Dorothy Rogers and Sharon Rogers. He was preceded in death by his father David Batzer, his father- in- law Doc Rogers, and sister-in-law Renee Rogers.


Visitation for David will be Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the MacAlpine Funeral Home from 11:00-2:00 PM. A Memorial service for David will be held on January 7, at 2:00 PM at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe.


Cremation has taken place at Sunset Hills Crematory in Flint,Michigan.


Memorials may be offered to the family for Clare’s future college education.
