Dave was born August 1, 1951 and passed away unexpectedly at his home on November 17, 2018 of natural causes. He was the first born son of M.D. (Dan) Bellware and Dorothy Mae "Dee" (Henderson) Bellware, both deceased. He is survived by his step-mother Iona Konwaler of Lakewood, NJ; siblings Greg Bellware and wife Carrie of Atlanta, GA; Jean Lewis and husband Dave of Bedford, PA; Andrew Bellware of Jersey City, NJ; nephew Daniel Bellware of Atlanta, GA; and niece Julie Bellware Crampton and husband Zel, and their children Aidan and Lida of Brooklyn, NY. David, or "Big Bells" as he was known to many of his friends, was raised in Metuchen, NJ and graduated from Metuchen High School in 1969. He was an accomplished tennis player (all-state) and musician. He moved to NC in 1988 and worked as a city letter carrier for the USPS until his retirement in 2011. He was proud to be a strong Union activist and a member of Colloquy Society high IQ group. He cared deeply for people and just causes and he touched many lives. He was penetratingly intelligent and extraordinarily knowledgeable on a wide range of subjects. In his retirement he enjoyed buying and selling musical instruments, playing guitar, and flying quadcopters. At the family's request, there will be no service at this time.

Not sure what to say?

I only knew Dave online through the Colloquy group where he was a moderator. But he long had a strong presence there and helped keep discussions civil. He shared some of his adventures and there was a number of long conversations on a very wide range of topics.

Both being David's, we had to come up with monikers to distinguish ourselves on the forum, he using Big Bells and myself le Canuck. (He didn't want to be blamed for things I said.)

I was sad to hear of his passing. My...

Dave will be missed by his friends on ECF. He was a mainstay there and always had his opinion about everything. Will miss talking to him. Sorry this had to happen. And so suddenly.

Dave came to live with us when his father (Dan) became ill. I was in bed watching TV when this gentle giant comes into the bedroom and says "Nite Mom." Imagine my surprise and shock. I was Dave's Step Mom. That was such a loving and surprising thing to do that it left me speechless.
Recently because he knew of my fondness for wine he has been sending me at first six bottles and his last shipment was a full case). I am reluctant to drink them. I want to save them. I still have a...

Dear Jean & Family

I received the notice today about the passing of David.

I did have the pleasure of meeting David at least twice and enjoyed our indepth conversations, especially about music in schools and how the governing boards cut music class in most schools all in the name of budget cuts.

Please accept my sincere sympathies to you and all your family. David left us all too soon.
