I never met David but knew he had directed one of my favorite all time movies called the Farmer in 1977, which I saw at a Drive Inn at Oceanside while in the Marines. I wondered why the movie was not available and found Davids number listed and simply called the man, we talked for a easy half hour or more about the filming etc, he thanked me for calling. I want his family and friends to know how much I appreciated speaking with him, it was like I had known him for a very long time. I am sorry...

My gift of love to the family of David. As a part of his life, he discovered his Jewish heritage and turned to explore his faith in his charity work. His pride in winning an Oscar nomination for "The Deep", without receiving a statue was not right and because of self doubt which he discovered when he did the EST ropes course and shared with me afterward (unearned but a self-declared vow ), it was only through fear that he never directed again, but he could of for sure.
