Not sure what to say?

To Dave's family, please accept my heartfelt condolences on Dave's passing. I first met Dave when I was appointed Executive Secretary to the Burlington Board of Selectmen and Dave was Town Counsel. I always enjoyed talking with and listening to Dave --- without a doubt the most brilliant person I ever met! His memory for facts, figures and points of law was very impressive. Sincerely I am a better person for having known Dave. I will miss him, R. I. P. my friend.

Dear Margaret and family, Please accept heartfelt condolences from Dorothy and me on your greaet loss. David was a splendid poet, a man both gracious and brilliant, a true friend to many of us. I first came to know him because he submitted several excellent poems to Counter/Measures, a little magazine we published back in the early 1960s. A wonderful, brilliant man with an interesting life and the talent to write about it. I'll miss him.

No one celebrated the success of other poets with such childish delight as he did. I'm glad we got to see him one last time at the Literary Festival in April, glad he gave such a powerful reading, glad to have known him, a true gentleman and a true individual. I feel blessed to...

We never stopped admiring his amazing memory he was his own Google and once admitted that he didn't have a very good forgettery. We will miss not only his wise counsel but his companionship in dining and his array of anecdotes and quotations to suit every situation. His poetry will live on and we know that your many happy memories...
