Not sure what to say?

Dear Ethan, Lillian and Laura,
I stumbled across my pictures from Bali and vividly remember some really fun times with Dave. So sorry to hear about your loss!!
I even visited you in CA, with Ethan showing some of his own pictures and doing some hikes. Dave has made me grow into a better person, and I will do my best to spread some of the kindness and wit he had upon him.

All the best!

For some reason, tonight I was thinking about Dave, or as I knew him "Bertz, Sir", at VPI and came across his obituary. Dave was an upper class man in "N Squadron". His wit and humor have come to mind many times over the years. Sir, I hope you had a good life. Condolences to the family.

I met David while living in Fortuna. We trade some things and he sold me pieces of Bauer pottery and he always made me laugh. He passed away on the same day as my mother. He will be missed by many

I met Dave in the junk business. I worked at an antique store that he had a booth in. Also, my family and I visited the Sow's Ear many many times.

Dave was strikingly charming and witty and had an amazing memory. He was a salesman to the core. He taught me the little I know just listening to him those days.

He was full of contradictions indeed. But what a personality. I will always remember Dave Bertz with fondness.

I knew David in High School, Princess Anne in VA Beach. I went to the Winter formal S with him @ VPI.
What a funeral sweet guy, miss you.
Affectionately,
Cheri

I will remember Dave as a kind man with a unique and hilarious sense of humor. He was the only person who stopped by my business to inquire as to my well-being after one of my family members became embroiled in a particularly awful legal issue. I will never forget his sincere concern and kindness even as he struggled with his own health issues.

Back in 1981 when I first met him I was trying to sell and old dental chair for $50. He wanted to give me 25$ and suggested we flip a coin. ...

I am so very saddened by the news of Dave's passing. My husband and I were talking recently about not seeing Dave in quite a long time. I first met him when I worked at a local thrift store. He would come in on the prowl for cool stuff. He brought many smiles and will be missed.

Dave was such a very special person. Kind, generous, funny, loud and noisy, and I considered him a dear friend. RIP David...

We're so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. We always enjoyed seeing him at the Fortuna AutoXpo Swap Meet every year and ribbing each other about who had found the best deals over the year. In all the years we knew him, we can't ever remember him being in a bad mood. He always had a smile on his face and he was always ready to seal the deal on one of his treasures. We'll miss him greatly. To Dave's family, we extend our sincere condolences.
