I was very sad indeed to hear of David's death. He was a great inspiration for me, and it is difficult to imagine his boundless enthusiasm and energy are over. As an engineer he was sound and demanding on precision and analytic work, but rightly realized that there was so very much more to producing high-quality results. Much more than numbers, he demanded understanding, and showed exactly what this meant with outstanding inspiration. He will be sorely missed.
