David John Blanchette, 50
David John Blanchette, 50, of Dorrance Street, Attleboro died unexpectedly upon arrival to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro on Monday, November 9, 2009 after a sudden illness. He was the husband of Kelly A. (Hughes) Blanchette to whom he was married on May 8, 1982.
Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on July 26, 1959, he was a son of Nancy A. (Charron) Blanchette of Attleboro and the late Donald Armand Blanchette. He was raised and educated in South Attleboro and Attleboro and was a 1979 graduate of Attleboro High School.
He returned to Attleboro in 1999 after having resided in Pawtucket for the previous 12 years.
Mr. Blanchette was employed as a rolling mill operator for Texas Instruments, now Engineered Material Solutions, in Attleboro for more than 30 years.
He also worked part-time as a security officer at Gillette Stadium for the past three years.
Mr. Blanchette was a communicant of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church in South Attleboro and also worshipped at New Covenant Christian Fellowship in Attleboro.
He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends as a man with a great sense of humor and was the “Mayor” of his neighborhood.
Mr. Blanchette was an avid outdoorsman having enjoyed the time spent boating, sailing, hunting, fishing and skiing.
Times spent working in the yard and gardening were among his favorite pastimes.
Devoted to his daughters, he volunteered with the Girl Scouts of America and was a dedicated supporter of the ALS Association – Rhode Island Chapter in honor of his father whom was afflicted with the disease.
While residing in Pawtucket, Mr. Blanchette was a softball coach with the Pawtucket Slaterettes.
In addition to his wife of 27 years and his mother, he leaves two daughters: Nicole M. Blanchette of Attleboro and Dianne K. Blanchette of Attleboro; a granddaughter: Calleigh Marie Vassar of Attleboro; two sisters: Barbara A. Duquette of Attleboro and Linda L. Caouette of Attleboro; a brother: Dennis D. Blanchette of Hope, Rhode Island and several extended family members and dear friends.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation Thursday, November 12, 2009 from 4:00 – 7:45 PM in the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home – the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson House, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, ¾ mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Funeral Service at the conclusion of visitation on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 8:00 PM in the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home – the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson House, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, ¾ mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with Pastor Chapman Bettis of the New Covenant Christian Church, Attleboro, officiating.
Burial will be private.
Children’s room available during visitation and the funeral service.
