Barnes Boffey was a great man who taught countless people how to live meaningful lives of purpose with respect for themselves and their duty. Ever summer one thinks of his smile, his laughter as he directed Camp Lanakila; he taught me more about how to be man of respect and a Lanakilan than anyone else ever could. May his memory always be a blessing to all those who knew him or read his many educational works. He left the world better than it was when he arrived in it and will be missed as...

I was saddened when I read about Barnes in the Aloha newsletter today. I spent five years at Camp Lanakila as a camper and counselor. I remember him well. He was always so much fun to be around and seemed to genuinely care about everyone. The world could sure use more people like Barnes Boffey.

The world is a better place because Barnes was (and still is) in it. So many fond memories, Barnes. Thank you. Deep sympathy to his family and all who loved him.

My prayers to all who loved this man. A wonderful human. Kind, caring and thoughtful in many ways. Loved his humor and strength he had to make positive choices in his life, to improve on those every day. You will be missed Barnes. From a Choice Theory colleague

Barnes was a person I grew up knowing in our town as his family lived down the road in Post Mills, his boys went to school with me and my siblings, you could not miss the gentle giant you would see about town. My favorite memory is one year he dressed up like Frankenstein and scared us so bad opening the door and there he was larger than life -condolences to the family at this time
