David Stoneham Boone

Macon, North Carolina - David Stoneham Boone, 65, of Macon, NC, passed away on January 22, 2024, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. David was born on January 26, 1958, in Charlotte, NC to the late William D. Boone, Jr. and Grace Walker Boone. A graduate of East Mecklenburg High School, David received an Associate Degree in Turfgrass Management from North Carolina State University. He worked at golf courses in Loris, SC, and in Charlotte, Raleigh, Cary, and Warrenton, eventually making his home in the Lake Gaston area.

David was a happy and independent traveler through life, uplifting and entertaining those around him. He had a great sense of humor and a special knack for telling tales, recounting family lore, sharing eclectic information, and reporting on the annual Boogie. A lover of nature and a friend to all animals, David was known for his horticultural creativity and his devotion to clearing, improving, and securing his land. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

David is survived by his sisters, Barbara Buescher (Paul) of Raleigh and Linda Stamey (Leo Russolesi) of Charlotte; his loving companion, Donna Paynter; and his nephews, Nathan Buescher, William Buescher, and Christopher Stamey.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Wise Baptist Church, 1840 US-1, Norlina, NC 27563. A reception will follow the service at the church.
