Not sure what to say?

I remember that day when Mary, the president of the American Slovak Czech club, called to give me the news of David's sudden death. I was checking out of a doctor's office when I got the call and let out a scream. Way to young and I miss him to this day and "mad" because as being much older than him, it was my turn, not his.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Dave's passing. I didn't learn about it until after the memorial or I would have been there. I just saw him at Holly Days. Have known Dave since sometime in the mid 1990's and always enjoyed seeing him out and about at festivals promoting his pub/s and good beers. My deepest condolences to the family and his community of friends. Dave never knew a stranger. We'll miss you Dave.

My deepest condolences to David's family and his siblings! I wanted so badly to attend his service, but I was ill that day. My name is Sandy Ventura Zerkel. Your family and my Family were friends for many years. My parents Joe and Bonnie Ventura. I babysat for some of you on several occasions. I would love to have seen all of you. God bless all of you and know that you are in my prayers! Sandy and Don Zerkel

David was one of the few that never mocked me or call me names when in school. I saw him a few times early on after graduating. We had a few talks. Reconnecting at our class reunions David was still that caring sweet guy. He will be missed. R.I. P. Dave

David was a friend and colleague - he was instrumental in Downtown dAYTON - A GREAT COOK, AND PROPRIETOR ... DAMN THIS IS TOO SAD ...

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

David was a wonderful man, always very friendly and down to earth, he will be missed. Ruth Waymire

So Many good times were shared at the Bistro with family and friends Dave was a Dayton Icon and he will be missed. Hal

Dancing with David to "Sweet Caroline" on Dutoit St. at Liederkranz German Picnic, under the stars, looking out at the lights of downtown Dayton, the night I first met him. The song will always bring back the most romantic night of my life. He was with me this past Christmas Eve mass at St. Mary Church and joined me and my choir friends for a small party after in the rectory. Although only friends for a little over two years we became good friends, the friendship I cherish and will never...
