Please accept my sympathy for the departure of David, who was a colleague of mine for 40 years in Humboldt State University's English department. David was one of my first professors at HSU in the early 70's. He ignited a love of American Lit and I loved his sense of humor. David and I became friends at age thirteen, attended the same high school and fraternity. We traveled to the west coast after college graduation and we kept in touch some sixty years.I am saddened by his loss and will always remember him with fondness

Oh my, how I will miss my funny friend of forty years. Somewhere, I have a photo of the two of us pretending to be Woody Allen and Diane Keaton. He lived his life creatively - lots of drama, lots of comedy. Looking forward to celebrating his life with all who loved and cared about him.

David often made me laugh with his witty humor, it was fun to see him on a day that I needed to smile.
I appreciate his intelligence and attainments throughout his life. My prayers and thoughts go out to his family at this time, he will be greatly missed by many.

David was truly a gentleman and a scholar, as well as a mentor and friend.

To the family of David Boxer:I first met David when I began teaching at HSU in 1987, and we were friends and colleagues until his retirement. Patrick and I will always remember David's gift of hospitality. Patrick was honored that David asked him to craft some tables to grace the beautiful home David built in Bayside. We send our deepest sympathy to you in this time of sorrow.

David was a kind and generous friend and we will never forget the good times we had being around him. His humor was a source of much pleasure. He was a great guy.
