Dr. Buckthal,
Thank you for teaching our son. We will remember you.

It was only like yesterday when I first met Dave some thirty plus years ago in State College, Pa. We tricked him to learn how to play bridge and got him hooked on the game. Luckily, at a bridge gathering he met Anne and found his soul mate.

My deepest sympathy to the Buckthal family. The only solace that I can offer is that Dave will now be with Anne, free of pain and suffering and play the best bridge ever.

David, when my time is up, I will look you up and discuss how to...

Karen and I welcomed Dave and Anne to the Amber Fields community years ago and enjoyed many gatherings, dinners and events with them. David had a great sense of humor and always brought joy and his keen intelligence to each. He will be missed.

Dr. Buckthal was a wonderful teacher for my daughter a few years back. He truly understood her as an individual student and consistently demonstrated genuine concern and energy for his school's community. I am very thankful she encountered him in the classroom and grieve for those that would have benefited from knowing him in the future. Blessed be God forever.

David, you changed so many young lives as a teacher, a mentor, a role model, and a voice of calm in the chaotic world of high school. Your gentle humor, your kind encouragement, your palpable love of learning, and your wisdom will all be missed. Oh, and you helped some parents get through the high school years, too.....

My deepest and most sincere condolences go to the family of Dr. Buckthal. Dr. Buckthal was such an amazing person and one of my dearest friends. Dr. B was not my teacher at the Academy; however, he was my brother's chemistry teacher. My brother introduced us about 11 years ago and Dr. B graciously accepted to tutor me in chemistry when I was studying for my dental school entrance exam. We instantly became friends along with his beloved wife Annie. They both treated me as family and we...
