Not sure what to say?

I am a member of the Saguaro Astronomy Club in Phoenix, Az. We were fortunate enough to have David come and speak to our club about the work he was doing on galaxies and galaxy groups. It was always a joy to have him share his expertise with us. We will miss him. Our condolences to his family and the astronomical community.

Unfortunately, I did not have the pleasure of personally knowing Mr. Burstein, but my husband and I were able to meet him at Jon and Kathy's lovely wedding. Jon and Kathy have been dear friends of ours for a long time and our heart goes out to them and the rest of the family. We know based on what both Jon and Kathy have told us that Mr. Burstein was a wonderful, caring man doing great work. May his memory live on in your hearts and minds.

I worked with Dr. Burstein for a short time when I was a staff member at ASU’s School of Earth & Space Exploration. He was a very kind and generous person whose occasional stops by my office brought a pleasant interlude to my somewhat hectic workaday world. He was always happy to bring in his wife’s homemade Christmas cookies to share with the office staff around the holidays. My condolences to the Burstein family. Rest in peace, Dr. Burstein.

I met Professor Burstein in an introductory astronomy course he taught in Fall of 2000, my first semester at ASU. I was uncertain which direction to take with my studies, and he encouraged me to pursue my interests in physics and astronomy. The following year I decided to change my major to physics. I had him as an instructor for several undergraduate and graduate astronomy courses. I remember his love for his subject and his desire to share his knowledge with his students. He also liked...

Dave, we greatly appreciate all you did for us. You will be missed.

Dave was always very kind and helpful to me during my graduate studies at ASU. We will always remember him. Our condolences to the Burstein family.

Gail, Dave will be missed as a good and generous friend and a
thoughtful astronomical advisor. The staff at FTW family dent. will
miss his jovial manner and friendly conversation. We share your grief
and remembrances of Dr. Burstein.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.

Dave -- we remember all the help that you had given us, and we remember you always.
