David Butler

David L. Butler CHARLOTTE - David was reunited with his parents, sister and uncle on Saturday, May 24th 2014. He slipped away peacefully with his wife and step-granddaughter by his side. Throughout his life David was known and loved for his kind and generous spirit. Who could ever forget those beautiful blue eyes and huge smile. He will long be remembered as a loving husband, father figure to his step-children and step- grandchildren, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He was born on May 8, 1959 to the late Donald R. Butler and Mary Ann Black Butler. He grew up in Charlotte, attended Garinger High School and worked for Butler Service, the family business. In addition to his parents, David is predeceased by a sister Joy Ann Butler Hayes. He was also predeceased by his Uncle Ronald H. Butler and cousin, Ronnie Butler. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Butler, his brother, Donnie Butler and wife Donna, step-sons, Matthew and Jeremy Southern and step-grandchildren, Isabella Hillman, Kyla Southern and Eden Southern. He is also survived by his nieces, Natalie and Melissa Butler, nephews, Trey Butler, Billy and Bradley Hayes and Michael Butler, cousins Tonda Butler Bynum, John Kelly Butler and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him unconditionally. A service of celebration and remembrance will be on May 31, 2014 at 11 am at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC with Rev. Michael Barefield officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials in memory of David may be made to Trinity Church of The Nazarene, 6031 Tuckaseegee Rd., Charlotte, NC 28208.
