Not sure what to say?

I knew David for only a few months during the early 90s when I was an intern at the Putney School. But these 30 years later I still think of him often and know that he is a constant in my Midnight Library

Really sad to hear of his passing. My Mother Theodora (Wendel) Krause and her older brother Whitney Wendel were long time childhood and college friends of David's. I often heard my Mom and Uncle Whit tell us stories of their shared love of Opera and fun as kids playing together in Brookline. Mom was a fan of literature as well. She lost touch ages ago. But I had always hoped to someday meet the amazing Calicchio bothers as an adult. Sadly I never got that chance. May you all treasure each and...

Mr. Calicchio was my teacher at Putney in 1981. He holds a special place in my heart because he was the only teacher I can remember who noticed that I was unhappy. I was falling behind in his class, so he took extra time to help me get caught up. He taught me to speed read, and I under his care, I made up a whole semester of work in history. I was so grateful that he saw potential in me while everyone else wouldn't. I wrote him sometime in 2017 to thank him for his work with me so long ago....

I just read the news and it stole my breath away.
He taught at Putney, but try as I might, I never got to be a student in his class. But became a regular student of his at his table in the KDU.
David gave me my first copy of The World According to Garp. It changed the way I read books (having always been a reader of the old gothic novelists prior) and I find myself rereading that same battered paperback at least once a year even though many of the pages no longer are attached to the...

A gentleman and a friend.

Nancy, Rafaela & Gabriella, my heartfelt condolences on learning of David's passing. Reading tributes from students and others, the world was a better place for many because of him. You're in my thoughts and heart.

Uncle David's kitchen.

Dear Nancy, Raphaella and Gabriella,
What a great spirit he was . . . Holding you all in my heart and mind at this sad time. My life is better for having David and Nancy in it. He will be missed by us all. Love, Lyedie Geer

David was my English teacher for only one year, but he made a great impression upon me. A figure never to be forgotten - and so his legacy lives on.

Peace be upon you all.
