E.S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel, Inc. Obituary

David Wayne Gordon Carlson, 41, died unexpectantly while working in Blue Springs, Missouri.

David was born on November 26,1981 in Sioux City, Iowa to the proud parents, Stanley “David” and Tammy Carlson.

David joined older brother Nick and later sisters Stacey and Kallie to complete the family.

David attended schools in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He later obtained his GED after moving to Colorado in 2001.

David was trained as a journeyman electrician, and he was mentored by his father for over 15 years to learn the trade. As a journeyman, he would still call his dad almost daily to discuss his current work.

David married Jennifer Mullins on October 22, 2004 in Greeley, Colorado. They later divorced. But, he was blessed with three sons from this union. The sons were most important beings in his life.

He later was blessed with a daughter, whom he loved very much.

David made the best of his time with his boys on school breaks and summers.

David moved to Oklahoma in 2020 to have a closer relationship with his boys and co-parent with Jennifer. He enjoyed going to their band performances and sporting events.

David leaves to cherish his memories: three sons, Ty, Micah, and Jarett; one daughter, Mabel Ann; parents, Stanley and Tammy Carlson; two sisters, Stacey Tellis and Kallie Carlson; grandmother, Donna Waterman; grandfather, William Hegna and wife Sandy; and a host of family and friends.

As his ex-wife Jennifer stated: “David had such a kind, big heart and was such a good man. Why did he have to die of a big heart?”

Not sure what to say?

Dewey, I can’t believe you’re gone. You were my first friend and became my brother. I will cherish every memory we made together especially our trip to Colorado and going to Six Flags. Tammy, Dave, Stacey, Kallie, Ty, Micah, Jarrett, and many other family and friends I’m very sorry for your loss. Dewey till we meet again my friend!

Our deepest sympathies to all of you and especially the boys. You’re all in our hearts and on our minds.

So sorry for your loss. David was always such a kind man to us and always had a smile.

David was definitely a kind and gentle man. He will be remembered

This seems so very unreal. Always will. I am struggling deeply with this loss. You were much too young!! I watched you grow up into a kind and gentle man, a loving father, an amazing uncle, a friend to all. I was blessed to be your Godmother and to have spent 37 years in your life. I have so many treasured memories of you. I will never forget you Dewey and will love and miss you until we meet again. RIP sweetheart - hug all of our loved ones who have gone before you!!

We are so sad that you are gone. We are going to miss that big goofy smile and laugh. We will watch over your boys/my nephews and take great care of them until your reunited with them. Much love brother!

David always managed to put a smile on my face. My heart goes out to his family his friends. I will miss seeing him so much, he was so supportive of his kids. I saw him at countless band events for Ty, Micah, and Jarret, and it’s painful to know we won’t be able to see him there anymore.

Rest in peace, David.

I was shocked and heartbroken to hear the news about David. I still remember our friendship, he would move Heaven and earth for his family. I don’t have enough words to say how sweet of a person he was. Heaven has gained another angel, but David will be with his family and friends hearts forever.

Dewey was a great kid. Always had a smile on his face and kindness in his heart. He'll be missed for sure! RIP my friend, see you on the other side!
