CARTER, Mr. David Sr., of Varina Road, departed this life December 8, 2011. He is survived by the mother of his children, Brenda M. Carter; one daughter, DaVonda C. Thomas (Glenn II); one son, David Carter Jr.; one devoted companion and caregiver, Gwendolyn Crawley; three grandchildren, Maya, David Moses and Leah; two godchildren, Gartasia and Trevon; one brother, Junius Carter; two sisters, Ruth W. Carter and Brenda C. McClary; three sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Water J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St., where the family will receive friends Monday, December 12, 2011 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and where funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 12 noon, Reverend Kevin L. Sykes officiating. Reverend Bobby Holmes eulogist. Burial Oakwood Cemetery.
