Single Memorial Tree

Dave Cayer was a gracious soul who loved jazz and, from behind the scenes during his administrating at Rutgers, he was a huge supporter of the Institute of Jazz Studies. His teaching and dedication to jazz history affirmed that jazz is an integral part of the field of American cultural studies.

Dave was just a great guy and friend of Dad's and our family for life. Always there at our dinner parties. Their Jazz history group would drag us as kids to see many of the greats in NYC and NJ. From Muddy Waters, Pee Wee Russell to Larry Coreal and Gary Burton. Some of my fondest memories as a kid. I also learned that if these guys ask you to go see an avant garde trio with a flute player, and you do not go because there is no lead guitar player. The you must missed seeing Jethro Tull....

Good friend, you will be so missed. We are
grateful for our shared years from Targum
to our oh so many 4th of Julys together
with you and Betsy and for all of our fond
memories of these past 60 plus years.

My deepest sympathy to the family. May you find comfort in God's Word at John 6:40

Condolences to the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of loss. I worked with David at Rutgers University, and am a member of the Advisory Council of OLLI-RU because of David's recommendation. He was a wonderful human being, with a great sense of humor. I am grateful to have known him.
