David Chaisson Obituary

CHAISSON SR., DAVID HENRY "POPS" "For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9. It was this promise that eased his suffering. Surrounded by his family, Jesus claimed his soul on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at 10:15 a.m. at his home in Prairieville. A retired truck driver for Southern Pacific Railroad, he was 73 and a native of Raceland. He served in the National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserve during peacetime. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, from 9 a.m. Friday until religious service at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Raymond Wade. Interment in Hope Haven Cemetery, Gonzales. He is survived by two daughters, Rose Marie Tillman, New Orleans, and Cheryl Ann Chaisson, Prairieville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Jeanne Chaisson, Houma, and Michael and Virginia "Ginny" Chaisson, Prairieville; two sisters, Norma Roundtree and Elsie Treadaway, both of Luling; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Mae John Chaisson; parents, Henry and Viola Chiasson; sister, Eula Chiasson Lauve; son, David Henry Chaisson Jr.; and two brothers, Francis "Red" and Edwin "Pete" Chiasson. Pallbearers will be family members. A special thanks to all our friends at Community Bible Fellowship for your prayers and visits, as well as to St. Joseph Hospice.
