David Bryan Chiles

David Chiles was my second cousin. I knew him growing up and he and his brother Dennis would come to our farm in Fauquier County Virginia and stay with us for the summer. I can't remember how many but they came a lot. I remember my dad teaching him to drive the tractor and help bale hay. David was a very hard worker. Dave and I had a lot of talks about everything from politics to airplanes, and even personal stuff.

I'm 19 years old and about to start NCSU, and he was nothing but supportive of me and my efforts. I practically saw him as a father figure of sorts because, well, I have no relationship with my father.

Dave is quite possibly the kindest and most unselfish person I will ever know, and I envy the people who had a chance to see and know him on a daily basis.

I have thought often of David. He was a special person in my life.

My thoughts and prayers are with David's mother, Deanna, Doug, Dennis and the rest of his family.

I live in the same apartment building where David resided. He always had time to stop and speak when, as neighbors, we'd run into each other in our comings and goings. He would be coming or going to work and I would either be doing the same or walking my dog. David loved his work with antiques and we would also sometimes discuss his love of books as well. We too met Dave when we entered into the "family" at 60 West. We shared a love of antiques as well as Great music. We quickly adopted Dave as a big brother. Never afraid to share, Dave taught us a lot about age, prices and the antique business in general. We love you and miss you already, and will never be able to listen to Johnny Lang again with out thoughts of you. God bless and rest in peace.

I got to know Dave when I became part of the "family" at Sixty West Antique Mall. It is so hard to believe that I won't see him again there at the shop. He was the kindest, most considerate and humble man who would do anything he could for you. He will be sorely missed.
